COUCH AMP

Sony W600B / W700B / W800B Bravia app control

Couch Amp turns your phone into a brushed-metal remote for the Sony W600B / W700B / W800B Bravia TVs — including the TV Remote key pad, which reaches through HDMI-CEC to whatever's plugged into the active input. This is a pre-Android "Scalar" generation with the older Pre-Shared-Key path; treat it as partial support, unverified on the bench.

What works on this series

These are pre-Android Linux "Scalar" sets. They sit inside the community "2013 and newer" IP-control window, but use the older Pre-Shared-Key control path and haven't been tested on the bench — treat them as partial: power, volume, and inputs may respond, but the remote key pad and HDMI-CEC pass-through are unconfirmed on this generation.

Setup

Enabling IP Control (Pre-Shared Key)

On the TV, open Settings → Network → Home Network Setup → IP Control. Set Authentication to "Normal and Pre-Shared Key" and choose a key. Enter that same key in Couch Amp when prompted, and the remote key pad lights up. Power, volume, and input switching don't need any of this — they work as soon as Couch Amp finds the TV on your network.

Why Remote Start matters

Some Bravia sets drop off the network in eco or low-power standby, so Couch Amp can't reach them to send a power-on command. Look for Remote Start (often on the same Home Network Setup screen) and turn it on if you want to power the TV on from the app rather than just off.

Control your Apple TV through the TV

Because Couch Amp sends key presses exactly like the TV's own remote, the TV forwards navigation and playback keys over HDMI-CEC to whatever's active on the current input — your Apple TV, Fire TV, or game console. Point your phone at the TV and you're driving the box behind it, with no separate pairing or app.
